OUR FACILITIES
Our Rooms
Each room is set out with areas to encourage and support children, through their interests, to be curious and ‘have a go’. Within each area, the layout takes into account the children’s ages, stages and interests. Each area has their continuous provision which is enhanced on a daily basis, based on the children’s interests and what learning opportunity is opened up to them in regards to their next steps.

Continuous provision is sand and water, malleable area (playdough), Creative/ Mark making area, Small World, Discovery, Relaxation and sensory area. Our different areas encourage early life skills for children to seek out others to share experiences and this helps children to have a sense of their own family and cultural backgrounds. Our mark making and playdough area builds on fine manipulative and gross motor skills, these are skills that later lead to good literacy skills.

You may notice when viewing our setting we have ‘Loose parts’ in our environment. Loose parts can be natural or man-made items such as sticks, stones, cones, bottle tops, logs, crates, beads which ignites imagination and the child’s play. We promote natural resources as much as we can, as these are open ended materials that children can decide to use for a variety of uses.

It provides opportunity to be curious and inspire children to ignite their imagination, which supports all areas of development as they grow, especially resilience which is an extremely important attribute for us to provide your children with.

Our Outside Area
Our outside area is an area which is viewed as another learning environment. It is set up like the indoors is set up and filled with resources that help support the all-round development of children and also provides opportunity to build up their physical development skills and gross motor skills. We have a range of bikes, balls, construction area, growing/planting area, mud garden and sand pit.
In addition to this we regularly go on trips to our local park, Withy Hill Park to either do a nature walk or go to the play ground. We also do trips to the local shops for ingredients for baking and any other things that have given opportunity to extend children’s learning.
We do ask for your child to come in old clothes as the children do enjoy getting messy when they are engaged in play and we do not like to have to stop them from engaging as this hinders their learning.

During the setting up of our environment, we follow the ‘Hygee’ approach. ‘Hygee’ is a feeling, you can not translate. It is about a space that promotes togetherness, comfort, emotional well-being and friendship. An approach like this offers children in our setting a sense of security and well-being and our main aim is that our setting is an extension of your child’s home.
